What is PayShap Request?

PayShap Request is an enhancement to PayShap - an instant payment platform that lets you send and receive payment across different banks. It's simple, secure, and available 24/7 within your banking app.

Using the recipient's ShapID, username, or bank account details, you can send a payment request and get paid instantly. Once approved, the payment processes immediately, so there's no need to chase down money or wait days for it to clear. This makes handling all your payments even easier, whether you're making a quick transfer, covering a shared gift, or settling a group bill after a night out.

Why use PayShap Request?

This service is available at no extra cost, with transfers starting from less than R1, and funds are processed immediately. Even if you and the recipient bank differently, participating banks - including African Bank, FNB, Capitec, Investec, Nedbank, Standard Bank and Tyme Bank - ensure seamless transactions.

How to set up PayShap Request

To set up your ShapID, if you don't have one already:

1. Log in to your Discovery Bank app.
2. Tap on the More menu.
3. Select PayShap
4. Follow the steps to register your ShapID.

To enable sending and receiving PayShap Requests:

1. Log in to your Discovery Bank app.
2. Tap on the More menu
3. Select PayShap
4. Under the Request Money section, enable Receive and Request from third parties functions using the toggle buttons
5. Add your preferred PayShap Payment Request known as name
6. Tap Save

That's it! You're ready to send and receive payment requests effortlessly.
