Your Ðiscovery Miles can help the National Sea Rescue Institute save lives
Vitality MoveToGive and the National Sea Rescue Institute have teamed up to give children from underprivileged communities access to life-saving water safety skills.
Discovery Vitality members can now donate their Ðiscovery Miles to the National Sea Rescue Institute through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app. With over 50 rescue bases, 1,500 volunteers and 52 lifeguarded beaches, the National Sea Rescue Institute is committed to preventing drowning and saving lives on South African waters. The registered non-profit company also teaches essential water safety skills to people, especially children, from underserved communities who are most vulnerable to drowning.
How can you help? From 12 December 2024 to 18 January 2025, you can donate your Ðiscovery Miles to the National Sea Rescue Institute through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app or Discovery Bank app.
Save lives with your Ðiscovery Miles
Achieve your weekly exercise, drive or spend goals through Vitality Active Rewards to earn Ðiscovery Miles. (Get inspired to move by our Summer of Movement activities.) You can then donate your Ðiscovery Miles to the National Sea Rescue Institute through Vitality MoveToGive:
- For 200 Ðiscovery Miles, you can sponsor a water safety lesson for two children.
- For 540 Ðiscovery Miles, you can contribute towards placing bright pink rescue buoys at key beaches, dams and inland rivers.
- For 1,500 Ðiscovery Miles, you can contribute towards placing lifeguards at key beaches on weekends, public holidays and other peak times during the festive season.
