What prepaid products and services can I buy on the Discovery Bank app?

You can buy:

• Airtime
• Data
• SMS bundles
• Prepaid water and electricity
• Digital Vouchers

Who can buy prepaid products and services on the Discovery Bank app?

Discovery Bank clients who have the latest version of the Discovery Bank app can buy prepaid products and services using the banking app. As a Discovery Bank client, you can buy prepaid products and services for yourself or someone else.

You need to have at least one of the following Discovery Bank accounts:

• Discovery Miles Account
• Discovery Bank Transaction Account
• Discovery Bank Card Account
• Demand Savings Account
• Vitality Savings Account

Is there a limit on how much I can buy in a day?

There's no limit on how many times you can buy prepaid products or services a day but you may have a limit on how much you can pay a day based on your Payment limits settings.

Can I use my Discovery Miles for prepaid products and services?

Yes, simply choose your Discovery Miles Account when choosing an account to pay from.

Can I pay for prepaid products or services using a combination of money in my account and Discovery Miles?

You can purchase prepaid products or services using either money in your account or your Discovery Miles, but you can't use a combination of the two in a transaction.

Airtime, Data and SMS bundles

Which networks can I buy from?

You can buy airtime, data and SMS bundles from:

• Cell C
• MTN
• Telkom
• Vodacom

How much does airtime, data and SMS bundles cost?

The cost of the purchase depends on the service you choose (whether airtime, data or SMS bundles), as well as the network provider's cost for that service.

You may also be charged a small fee for each purchase in line with your Discovery Bank product's fee structure. For more information, please read your Fees Guide.

How do I pay for airtime, data and SMS bundles?

You can use the available money in your Discovery Bank account or the available Discovery Miles in your Discovery Miles Account to purchase airtime. You can't use a combination of the two in a transaction.

How do I buy airtime on the Discovery Bank app?

To buy airtime, you must:

1. Log in to the Discovery Bank app.
2. Tap Transact at the bottom of the screen and select Purchase.
3. Select Airtime, Data and SMS.
4. Choose the account you want to pay from and select Please add recipient.
5. Tap Add new recipient to add a new number or select a name on the list if added already.
6. Use the drop-down menu to choose a provider.
7. Tap on Service and choose Airtime.
8. Enter the amount you want to spend.
9. Select Purchase to complete the transaction.

How do I buy data on the Discovery Bank app?

To buy data, you must:

1.  Log in to the Discovery Bank app.
2. Tap Transact at the bottom of the screen and select Purchase.
3. Select Airtime, Data and SMS.
4. Choose the account you want to pay from and select Please add recipient.
5. Tap Add new recipient to add a new number or select a name on the list if added already.
6. Use the drop-down menu to choose a provider.
7. Tap on Service and choose Data.
8. Tap on Bundle and choose the bundle you want to purchase.
9. Select Purchase to complete the transaction.

How do I buy SMS bundles on the Discovery Bank app?

To buy SMS bundles, you must:

1. Log in to the Discovery Bank app.
2. Tap Transact at the bottom of the screen and select Purchase.
3. Select Airtime, Data and SMS.
4. Choose the account you want to pay from and select Please add recipient.
5. Tap Add new recipient to add a new number or select a name on the list if added already.
6. Use the drop-down menu to choose a provider.
7. Tap on Service and choose SMS.
8. Tap on Bundle and choose the bundle you want to purchase.
9. Select Purchase to complete the transaction.

Can I buy airtime, data and SMS bundles for someone else?

Yes, when completing the purchase, you will be asked to Please add recipient. Simply tap Add new recipient to add the recipient's number. Remember to add their name so you can see who the purchase was for in your purchase history.

Prepaid water and electricity

How much does prepaid water and electricity cost on the app?

You choose how much you want to spend. You can either choose one of the preset amounts on the app (R100, R200, R500 or R1 000) or select your Own Amount.

Please note that the service provider could deduct a vending fee for each transaction, and you may also pay a small transaction fee for each purchase in line with your Discovery Bank product's fee structure. For more information, please read your Fees Guide.

How do I pay for prepaid water and electricity?

You can use the available money in your Discovery Bank account or the available Discovery Miles in your Discovery Miles Account to purchase prepaid water and electricity. You cannot use a combination of the two in a transaction.

How do I buy prepaid water and electricity on the Discovery Bank app?

To buy prepaid water and electricity, you must:

1.  Log in to the Discovery Bank app.
2. Tap Transact at the bottom of the screen and select Purchase.
3. Select Water and Electricity.
4. Choose the account you want to pay from and then select Please select a recipient.
5. Tap Add new recipient to add a new number or select the meter details on the list if added already.
6. Tap on Product and select the preset amount you want to pay. To add a different amount, select Own Amount and enter the amount.
7. Select Purchase to complete the transaction.

Digital Vouchers

How much does a voucher cost?

You choose how much you want to spend. You can either choose one of the preset amounts on the app or select your Own Amount.

How do I pay for a voucher?

You can use the available money in your Discovery Bank account or the available Discovery Miles in your Discovery Miles Account to purchase a voucher. You cannot use a combination of the two in a transaction.

How do I buy a voucher on the Discovery Bank app?

To buy a voucher, you must:

1. Log in to your Discovery Bank app.
2. Tap Purchase.
3. Tap Vouchers.
4. Select the account you want to use
5. Select the voucher provider of your choice.
6. Choose the voucher amount and quantity.
7. Select Purchase to complete the transaction.

Use your Discovery Miles at checkout to enjoy your personalised discount

NOTE: Certain vouchers are not eligible for the up to 15% off discount with Discovery Miles.

Can I buy a voucher for someone else?

Once you have purchased a voucher, you will be able to share it with another person by using the standard sharing functionality on your mobile device.
