Fresh or salt water? Both!
Unlike most other fish, salmon can live in fresh and salt water. Salmon are 'anadromous' fish, which means they can easily adapt and survive in both environments.
Why is salmon (o)mega amazing?
Salmon is a protein-rich source of omega-3 fatty acids that are essential for a healthy diet.
Scientists recommend eating at least 2 portions of fatty fish like salmon a week to keep your heart healthy and strong. It may also lower your risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, depression, stroke and other chronic conditions.
Plus, salmon is rich in other nutrients like B vitamins, potassium, selenium and vitamin D, making it a deliciously healthy ingredient in any eating plan.


3 easy ways to cook salmon
- Bake it. Line a baking sheet with aluminium foil, brush it with canola oil and add the seasoned salmon pieces. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°C for 30 to 40 minutes or until cooked through.
- Grill it. Wrap your salmon pieces in aluminium foil and cook it on the braai or an indoor grill for about 10 minutes on each side.
- Air fry it. Enjoy fried salmon without adding extra fat. Put your seasoned salmon pieces in an air fryer basket and cook at 180°C for 10 minutes or until cooked through.
Serve salmon with rice, mashed potatoes, vegetables and salad depending on your preference.
