Why do we love apples?
First, they're juicy and delicious. But also, fresh, whole apples are rich in quercetin, a compound that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, and pectin, a type of soluble fibre that can help lower cholesterol and prevent chronic conditions like certain cancers and bowel disorders.
And don't think about peeling your apples, either. The skin is the thing that holds most of the fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants that keep your body strong and healthy.

Pro tip: The World Health Organization recommends eating 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day for the best health results. 1 portion size = 80 g, roughly the weight of a small to medium sized apple! Nom.

How to eat more apples
- Eat them whole for a quick, convenient and crunchy snack.
- Pair your apple with nut butters or cheese for a protein pick me up.
- Add apple to a smoothie or overnight oats for a filling breakfast.

How to keep your apples crisp and fresh
- To prolong freshness, store in the refrigerator. Apples usually remain fresh for at least one to two months, if not longer.
- Remember to store your apples in a separate drawer away from your leafy greens, because the ethylene gas they emit may cause your green vegetables to wilt faster.
- If stored at room temperature, apples may last for one to two weeks, but the texture can change during this time.
