Food for thought... Your healthy steps can feed vulnerable people through Vitality MoveToGive
Vitality MoveToGive has partnered with FoodForward SA to redirect quality surplus food to people who need it most. You can now help give a vulnerable child or adult access to regular healthy meals with your Discovery Miles.
Your healthy steps, good driving or spending behaviour can help provide nutritious meals to vulnerable people through FoodForward SA and Vitality MoveToGive.
What happens to the 10 million tonnes of food wasted each year?
With your help, FoodForward SA can repurpose the surplus and provide healthy meals to vulnerable people across South Africa.
How does it work?
FoodForward SA sources, collects and stores edible surplus food from farmers, manufacturers and retailers and redistributes it to vetted beneficiary organisations across the country. In the last year alone, FoodForward SA distributed 22,120 tonnes of surplus food to 2,500 beneficiary organisations - serving 985,000 people daily.
How can you help? By donating your Discovery Miles to FoodForward SA through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app from 26 September 2023 to 7 November 2023
Your Discovery Miles can help relieve hunger
Achieve your weekly exercise, drive or spend goals through Vitality Active Rewards to earn Discovery Miles.
You can then donate your Discovery Miles to FoodForward SA through Vitality MoveToGive in the Discovery app:
- For 170 Discovery Miles (that's only R17), you can give a vulnerable child a meal a day for an entire month.
- For 500 Discovery Miles (R50 only), you can give a person living at a shelter a meal a day for three months.
- For 1,000 Discovery Miles(R100 only), you can give a person living at a disability care centre a meal a day for six months.
How you can donate to FoodForward SA
- Activate Vitality Active Rewards in the latest version of the Discovery app.
- Achieve your exercise, drive or money goals to earn a play on the gameboard.
- Pick a tile on the gameboard to reveal Discovery Miles.
- Spend your Discovery Miles on Vitality MoveToGive charity donations.
