When you visit a Health Pay-enabled provider your medical expenses will be automatically paid by your medical scheme and Health Pay

If your healthcare provider has a QR code on their invoice, you can scan this QR code from your Discovery app. The outstanding amount will be automatically deducted with Health Pay from your linked Discovery Bank account.

- Any adult beneficiary on Discovery Health Medical Scheme who is a primary account holder of a qualifying Discovery Bank product can activate Health Pay.
- Eligible Discovery Health Medical Scheme members can activate Health Pay on the Discovery Bank app.
- Qualifying Discovery Bank products include the Ðiscovery Account, Discovery Bank Transaction Account, Discovery Bank Card Account, or Discovery Bank Suite. Only one account can be linked to Health Pay.
- Qualifying out-of-pocket medical expenses for all members on the same Discovery Health Medical Scheme plan will be charged to the same linked Discovery Bank account.
- Your linked account must have an available balance to make payments with Health Pay. Using the Discovery Bank app, you can set a maximum spend limit per Health Pay payment.
- There is no additional cost for activating and using Health Pay. However, interest will be charged on Health Pay where the linked account has a negative balance per your credit agreement.
- When a claim is submitted by a provider and you have an active mandate that is more than the co-payment amount, the co-payment portion will automatically pay from Health Pay.
- Alternatively, some practices may have a QR code on their invoice, which you can scan using your Discovery app. Your claim will then we funded from your available medical scheme benefits and Health Pay where applicable.
- Any outstanding medical expenses (co-payments) are instantly settled from your nominated Discovery Bank account when you claim.
- No, providers should not be asking for upfront payment where they have Health Pay activated.
- They may however charge you upfront if you have not activated your mandate or if you have insufficient funds in your nominated Discovery Bank account.
- When submitting the claim, the provider must indicate on the claim that you have made a payment so that you can be reimbursed for the payment.
