Launched in 2010, the Discovery Soccer Park is a state-of-the-art facility that seeks to encourage active, healthier lifestyles while promoting the development of soccer in South Africa.
Situated in Illovo and now in Sandton these sophisticated facilities have eight and six 5-a-side pitches respectively, correspondingly each fitted with FIFA-approved synthetic grass. In line with Discovery’s focus of making active lifestyles more accessible, the venues are open to the public seven days a week, and offer individual and group youth coaching sessions during the day.
Cited as the largest 5-a-side centres in South Africa, well-known soccer celebrities such as Lucas Radebe, Neil Tovey, Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo, Patrick Vieira and André Arendse have visited the venues, while many other well-known celebrities continue to visit the centres and support an environment that is built for active play.
