Easily access all your plan information, send claims and engage with your Vitality Drive programme at a touch of a button - all on the Discovery app. Our digital channels secure all your personal details with enhanced POPIA-compliant systems.

We've embraced the app as a way to neatly group all your plan information in a convenient and accessible way. No matter where you are, anything and everything you need to know about your Discovery Insure Plan is right at your fingertips thanks to the Discovery app. This information includes what you are covered for under your plan, and additional benefits you can consider for making your cover more comprehensive.

Our app also lets you engage seamlessly with Vitality Drive, giving you all the tools you need to get started with the programme, improve your driving behaviour and maximise your rewards.

Five things you can use the Discovery app for

  1. View and manage your Discovery Insure plan, along with all your active benefits.
    1. Open and log in to the Discovery app with your username and password.
    2. On the landing screen, tap on the Car and home insurance tab.
    3. Scroll through the landing screen and select what you need, access and view.
  1. Simple claims sending and easy tracking of their progress.
    1. Open and log in to the Discovery app with your username and password.
    2. On the landing screen, tap on the Car and home insurance tab.
    3. Scroll through the landing screen and tap on the Claims tab.
    4. From here, you can send a new claim or track the progress of your existing claim.
  1. View a breakdown of your daily Drive points history and driving behaviour. This helps you to easily track your Vitality Drive points and close your drive ring to earn your weekly Vitality Active Rewards.
    1. Open and log in to the Discovery app with your username and password.
    2. On the landing screen, tap on the Car and home insurance tab.
    3. Scroll through the landing screen and tap on the Vitality Active Rewards tab.
    4. Scroll through and click on the View goal tab under Drive or click on the drive ring at the top of the Vitality Active Rewards landing page.
    5. Click on Daily Drive points history.
    6. From here, you can view a summary of your points history or open the Discovery Insure app to view your driving points in detail.
  1. View your accumulated fuel cash back based on your qualifying spend (in other words, when you have swiped your Vitality Drive card at BP or Shell).
    1. Open and log in to the Discovery app with your username and password.
    2. On the landing screen, tap on the Car and home insurance tab.
    3. Scroll through the landing screen and tap on the Vitality Drive dashboard tab.
    4. From here, you can view your accumulated cash back, Vitality Drive points, qualifying spend and your qualifying cash back percentage.
  1. Easily switch your rewards options between earning your fuel cash back as cash or having your cash back paid into your Insure Funder Account.
    1. Open and log in to the Discovery app with your username and password.
    2. On the landing screen, tap on the Car and home insurance tab.
    3. Scroll through the landing screen and tap on the Vitality Drive dashboard tab.
    4. From here, you can switch to an Insure Funder Account or fuel cash back.

Get help from the Discovery Virtual Agent

The Discovery Virtual Agent is a chat bot powered by artificial intelligence that has the answers to all of your product-related questions. Built as an easy conversational tool, you can chat with the Discovery Virtual Agent by asking questions in your own words and receive immediate responses applicable to what you need to know - quickly and efficiently.

The chat bot is there to give you all the general information about the Discovery Insure products, and the Vitality Drive rewards and services you may need to check over or refresh your memory with.

How to find and use the Discovery Virtual Agent
  • Visit discovery.co.za and look for the circular pink web graphic with the speech bubble icon in the bottom right-hand corner. When you hover over it, the word "chat" will appear.
  • Once you click on the graphic, the chat box will pop up with an introductory message: "Hello, I'm the Discovery service bot. You can ask me a question or choose an option below."

Two ways of easy access to your Discovery Insure Plan documents and tax statements

You have two ways to access these documents - simply and effortlessly:

  • On the Discovery app
    1. Open and log in to the Discovery app with your username and password.
    2. On the landing screen, tap on the Car and home insurance tab.
    3. Scroll through the landing screen and tap on the Plan documents tab. From here you can select what you need, access and view.
  • On discovery.co.za
    1. Open the Discovery web login page and enter your username and password.
    2. Find the Car and home insurance tab and click to display the landing page.
    3. Click on Manage my policy to access a list of your available plan documents. Select the hyperlink to access.

On both the app and the website, you will find the following documents:

  • Plan Schedule: Your Plan Schedule and your anniversary letter
  • Confirmation of cover: Confirmation of cover letter and border letters
  • Claim letters: Claims history and letter for not claiming for an incident
  • Financial letters: Premium tax invoice and statement
  • General letters: Benefit Limit Annexure, Excess Annexure, Plan Guide, Vitality Drive terms and conditions, and code of conduct

Is all my information secure?

All your digital insurance plan information with us is in safe hands. The Discovery Insure team has developed even more secure ways of protecting your personal information, while making sure that everything is fully compliant with South Africa's data privacy law, POPIA.

Defining POPIA

This privacy law acronym stands for Protection of Personal Information Act (2013) and is in place to govern when and how organisations or companies, such as ourselves, collect, store, use or handle and even delete your personal information - including your name, identity number, address or age.

Personal information is defined as that which can be used to personally identify you as a person - the law defines this as being a "natural" individual, or "juristic" organisation or persons. Our organisational policies and procedures must be set to appropriately protect your information, as our valued client, against unauthorised access, misuse or even loss. POPIA protects you for unwanted harm, such as identity theft, monetary theft, privacy breaches and any other fundamental human right which can be compromised with the use of accessible identity information.

POPIA gives you the opportunity to be well informed as to what information is needed for processing needs, how it will be collected, by whom and the reasons why it is needed, so that the decision to share it is all yours to make. Under this act, your personal details will only be collected and handled where there is a lawful reason.

Your information is secure and compliant with the new POPIA regulations

We have implemented enhanced systems to ensure that your personal information is always kept, stored, used and even destroyed (should you ever cancel your plan) in the most secure ways in line with the legally stipulated requirements.

While all of your information is safely stored and handled, this doesn't mean that access to documentation and details that you need will become more challenging. To ensure that we can still engage and share some of your plan information safely, we've implemented our expertly structured Secure Inbox on both the Discovery app and website. This has been done to ensure that the natural flow of correspondence between us can still take place, but without risk of being compromised. A notification system has also been built in to ensure that when a new mail is available, you will receive a message to alert you. You can then access the Secure Inbox and safely read the message that is only meant for you.
