If you want to compete in runs that are 10 km and more or participate in national cycling competitions and events organised by Cycling South Africa, you'll need a running and cycling licence.
Club runners
Currently licence applications for running are only available in Central Gauteng, Gauteng North, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Province and Eastern Province.
Here's how to apply for a running licence:
Gauteng North, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Province and Eastern Province
Register on the Athletics South Africa (ASA) website to have Team Vitality accept you as a member and verify your licence details.
- Purchase your ASA running licence when you sign up for Team Vitality. Please note ASA province licence fees will apply for 2025 licences.
- Download the ASA application form.
- Complete the form and send it to ASAformteamvitality@discovery.co.za.
Central Gauteng:
- Register as a new or existing runner on the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) website.
- Sign the form electronically or manually.
- Forward the following documents to ASAformteamvitality@discovery.co.za:
- The completed and signed form from the CGA portal
- Your proof of payment.
Team Vitality will allocate a licence number to you, the applicant, on the CGA admin portal.
Please note: There is no guarantee for receiving the same licence number that you received in the previous year.
